Newman Catechesis: Religious Education

"All the baptized, because they are all called by God to maturity of faith, need and have therefore a right to adequate catechesis. It is thus a primary responsibility of the Church to respond to this in a fitting and satisfactory manner."

"If indeed it is from the whole life of the Church that catechesis draws its legitimacy and energy, it is also true that 'her inner growth and correspondence with God's plan depend essentially on catechesis."

- General Directory for Catechesis

Overview

Catechesis sessions are offered most Sunday mornings during the school year. Elementary classes (grades K-5) and middle school (grades 6-8) meet at McDougle Elementary School from 10:45 am to 12:00 noon. Sacramental preparation for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation are included in the second grade curriculum. For more information on the Sacraments, please visit our Sacramental Preparation page.

Middle-schoolers are also encouraged to participate in activities that help our society such as working at the IFC Kitchen.
